We Own and Operate Our Network. Few CDNs Can Say That.
Highwinds' global CDN runs across our network infrastructure --- called RollingThunder® --- a global,
private network purpose-built to effectively distribute data and rich media content around the world.
The third-generation architecture used by the RollingThunder network allows for the best in reliability
and scalability. Plus, it boasts bandwidth capacity and speeds found in only a handful of networks. The
RollingThunder network consists of a ringed, redundant architecture made up of multiple 10 Gbps
connections per point of presence (PoP). The network also peers with over 800 major ISPs and over 14,000
ASNs, which extends the network to the far reaches of the globe.
Highwinds Global Points of Presence

Phoenix, San Jose (4), Seattle (2) and Tustin
South America: Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo (4)

You can connect to our RollingThunder network at any of our Network Access Exchange (NAX) locations. For
a list of cities and connections, see the map above.
Network Operations Center
Our RollingThunder network is continuously monitored by a seasoned technical operations and support team
in our state-of-the-art Network Operations Center (NOC). These individuals are employees of Highwinds
who have many years of experience running large IP backbones. In the NOC, intelligent systems monitor
bandwidth, packets, errors and other statistics; alerts are provided based on thresholds, rate changes,
trends and other metrics. Proactive maintenance is routinely performed to prevent failures. The
Highwinds support team is available 24x7x365, and we never outsource our support operations.
Quality of Service
QoS control mechanisms are employed in our RollingThunder network to simultaneously carry multiple types
of traffic. QoS allows the network to be utilized efficiently and eliminates the need to simply throw
bandwidth at content without regard for actual traffic requirements.
Our IP Transit gives you the flexibility and scalability you need to grow and build your
business and is competitively priced. In fact, we are one of the most reliable IP Transit
providers in the country—offering a proven 100% uptime SLA with absolutely no oversubscription.

operate our own MPLS backbone to deliver a truly private, Layer 2 transport circuit that can be
easily configured to expand as your needs change
We can help you peer your traffic for optimal performance. Think it's too expensive to build a
network? Think you don't have enough traffic? Think again. Our services and flexible terms allow
you to easily access the infrastructure and connectivity you need to build a cost-effective,
